Happy Belated April Fool's Day
where sense makes nothing.

who is on my side tonight?

could it be the tripping yellow flying feeling
when the last of a loved one falls asleep
could it mash your fingers into a better tap tap trapping?
someday the backyard will bleed with madness
and all the time you’ve spent dying
will bring you the tasty swallowings of time
spent outside alone and cold
but at the least together
with a sky-lined tree
and the end
of a day-filled spell

the dry curtain of an empty window

was hoping for confetti holidays
but turned green and cheap instead
like someone on their last heated drag
but still bent on going home
always bent on the going home
a soft lily in the snow
too tired to realize the freeze
too blind for the empty window.

there’s that vibrating crash

where every song you ever loved
goes straight into a trapped ocean car
with gasping panic of all of a split second

you sing like you’ll never
sing again
but you will
we all do.

not going down the accident road again
no you can’t fool me
those bogus signs

this bloody pattern
of sinking and swan singing
will surely drown me
for good.

waiting for you outside

for ever the begging flies
and the side yard of cautious love
streaming down iced garbage cans
sliding out into hallways coughing
tearing down mean dog beaters
and bringing you
to a tear on my cheek.

until they are satisfied

take all the flaming heroes
with dry leaves for hands
and closed burning eyes
to the end of my street

join their beds of autumn
with old twist ties
and drag them through the snow covered gravel
where they can suffer with the worms

and they will suffocate
on the stupidity and arrogance
of the all the rest of us
until they are satisfied.
